I build agentic AI features for SaaS companies. I'm a Lead AI Engineer in the MEP software space and a contributor to oMLX.
I came to engineering on a non-traditional path. My undergraduate degree at UNC-Chapel Hill was in political science and psychology, and I changed direction late enough that retraining was the next move. A post-bacc in computer programming at NC State was that retraining.
My first job in software was in customer success, where I spent five months on the receiving end of support tickets. I then moved into professional services as an integrations engineer. I built custom integrations and solutions for customers, and I was the PM, engineer, QA and customer contact for each one. Engineering decisions look different when you've already seen the consequences of past ones land on someone's desk.
From there I moved into product engineering. Over four years I went from software engineer to senior engineer and led small pods of developers. Agentic AI became my focus toward the end of that time.
